Assessment Portfolio
The Assessment Portfolio assignment allowed for me to find and create a variety of 15 different forms of assessment that I would use within my own classroom and reflect on how I could use them in order to benefit my students. I was able to reflect on each form of assessment and decide if it was for Diagnostic, Formative, or Summative assessment. For some forms of assessment that I chose, I also established where it fit in the Triangulation of Assessment: Observation, Conversation, or Product. I created worksheets for each form of assessment that I could use in my classrooms and adapt for different grades.
Writing Portfolio
In my Writing Portfolio assignment, I found 40 different writing strategies that can be used to integrate student writing into the classroom. Student engagement is important to me, so I tried to choose strategies that are fun while also allowing my students to learn about writing and take part in the writing process. For each writing activity, I explained why and how each one could be used to implement student learning and how each could be adapted for the diverse needs and abilities of my students. This Writing Portfolio represents a repertoire of creative and resourceful strategies, resources, techniques, and practices about teaching writing that I am able to implement into my classroom.
Meal Program Implementation
In this assignment I prepared a presentation on an initiative I wanted to bring into a school. I chose to do a Meal Program Implementation as I found that it is something that is important for all students and their families within the school. I have seen programs similar to this within schools, but not to the same extent that I am hoping to see. I chose this program because I see the benefits that it can have on students and families due to the high costs of food and the inclusivity it can have within the classroom. It also creates leadership roles within the school for all students and creates a positive, inclusive environment.
Place Based Learning Field Trip
In this assignment, I was able to plan a field trip that connected to learning on the land. I chose my field trip to be at Tsútswecw Story Trail. This field trip is designed around the grade 3 curriculum and takes into account the safety considerations and field trip activities.
