Jo Chrona: First Peoples Principles of Learning
The First Peoples Principles of Learning is important to the learning of students because it integrates Indigenous way of knowing into the classroom and allows for Indigenous representation. By incorporating the First Peoples Principles, the lessons being taught within the classroom are considering the knowledge and ways of living of Indigenous peoples and communities.
I will integrate the First Peoples Principles of Learning into my classroom by not only having the poster on the wall, but also thinking about the different principles during each lesson that I teach. Jo Chrona, in the link I provided, explains each Principle in depth and how it can be integrated into the lessons being taught. I want to be able to understand each principle further than just what is said in the poster but fully integrate each one into my own classroom and within my teachings.
